American Civics Education Initiative, S.B. 60, was passed in the Utah legislative session of 2015. This law requires the successful passage of a basic civics test or an alternate assessment in order to graduate.
The Civics Test is available on Student Passport. It can be completed at any time. We encourage all of our 8th and 9th graders to complete it before moving on to the high school.

- You must pass the test with 35 correct responses. The test is automatically scored, so you will receive immediate feedback.
- Once the test is successfully completed, you are done and your score will be saved and recorded.
- If you are unsuccessful, you will be able to retake the test. The test generator will select another 50 random questions. You may take the test as many times as necessary.
- The test does not need to be completed all in one setting and has a save button. As long as you save your work, you can log back in and continue the test.
- If you have questions, please contact your school counselor.
